Here at Mippin, we too have been hit by the "duplicate functinality" rule. They rejected the Mippin app for that reason but they complained we were trying to release the same functionality as our webapp in this case.
Spot on Carlo. If the inventiveness and execution of Apple was anything less than spectacular it would be one of the most disliked companies worldwide rather than one that inspires the most passion and loyalty. The enormous pity is that the closed model across all its products limits its impact - game changing without the subsequent revolution. I often wonder if there is a deeply hidden - subconscious maybe - scorn of the consumer.

Yup. Apple has squandered their chance to really revolutionize the mobile industry, trading their upper hand with the telcos for a $299 price tag worldwide...

Note: We have stopped our companies development of a podcast application due to Apples Actions. I am no way associated with either app that was rejected.

It's true, really, and another reason that the iPhone doesn't interest me in the slightest. I'm a big boy, and can make intelligent choices on my own. I don't expect either my phone or my carrier to get in my way, either.
