Thanks Judy - I wasn't assuming that I knew your voting preferences at all or being age-ist. I'd take an equally dim view of any politician (left or right) who refused to use technology.

You're actually a case in point - tech savvy and yet of the same generation. I think Russo's point is that trying to apply a theoretical understanding is going to be hard without hands on experience. Like trying to drive a car based on reading a book, as an example, and I think that's valid.

Not being a political blog or Carnival, I'd hesitate to take sides in the politics, but I do think it's valid to critique either side's views and tech policy generally.

Surely it's better to have a president who is tech savvy than not? That's all I'm trying to imply.

Kudos to our senior Carnivalist Russell for founding and remaining the the leader of this project. A slight correction of perception though: In my comments he references about the political stuff I was careful not to take sides. Russell is assuming I am pro-Obama but I am a McCain supporter. Having personally been kicked hard by a demonstrator at the 1968 National Convention, among other Presidential staffing adventures in the old days, I am an enthusiastic Republican. A second correction: the plump girl in the video linked above who cannot imagine "your grandmother" doing anything online should know that my Internet skills exist although I am eleven days younger that John McCain, who undoubtedly shares our generation's big picture understanding of the connected age we have been instrumental in creating. Our generation gave the Internet to the now young generations and look forward to what you may create with it in your time. Doug Engelbart for example is 9 years older than McCain and I are. Where would that plump lady be without Doug's mouse?
