Apparently, Illinois is the first among many US states to consider banning the use of mobile while walking in certain circumstances, among them, crossing the road. And no, the article is not an April First prank as far as I can see.
Having just missed a rather nasty head-on collision in my car with someone who was trying to do something with his mobile, I have every sympathy with banning phones while driving. But do we really need to legislate against something like walking and talking? What next? Will our Nanny Society start to pass laws about not jumping off tall buildings and cliffs?
