Some dodgy food (I’m thinking a piece of shrimp at a party Monday night) put paid to my MWC experience, forcing me to spend Tuesday and Wednesday in my hotel room with a lovely bit of food poisoning. Hence the lack of updates, as I was fairly certain regular posts about what I was seeing — the ceiling of my hotel room — wouldn’t interest too many readers. In any case, I’ll cobble some thoughts on the event together sharpish, but while I’m doing so, what impressed/disappointed/struck you from MWC, or the coverage of it?

Funny (not for you, sorry) but last time I was in Barcelona I had a great fish meal and ended up in much the same position!
Ref MWC. I was impressed to see a huge focus on Mobile Internet and the Sony Xperia is probably the highlight. 2nd-place, the Ti 3430 being used with Andriod. 3rd place: New Nokia phones and Maps2.0 (unless someone publishes a gallery of Spanish booth-babe photos!)
Get well soon!
Chippy.
Nothing that really wowed me on the exhibition floor apart from the new foldable low power screen from a Philips spin off.
However, the operators interest in mobile financial services (mainly focused in the developing world) was huge. The presentations were so full that they were turning people away… Expect some interesting announcements this year.

Sorry to hear you got so sick, Carlo…
From my perspective the story of the show was the iPhone. Everywhere you went it was iPhone this, iPhone that - everyone was comparing and contrasting their gear to Apple’s show-stopper.
In the context of a show as big as 3GSM and particularly considering that Apple didn’t even deign to show up this was a remarkable achievement and speaks volumes about the massive impact the device has had (and will likely continue to have) on the industry entire.
More thoughts on the show on my blog a bit later today (http://owstarr.com)
Feel Better Soon!
