3GSM/MWC

Gearing Up For 3GSM, er MWC

Posted by Carlo Longino on 01.17.08 | 3 Comments

The event formerly known as the 3GSM — now called the “Mobile World Congress” — in Barcelona is about a month away. We’ll be there again, covering the event in the inimitable MH style, and looking to meet up with community members and other interesting folks at a variety of events. In addition to the Congress itself, here are some events worth checking out (and if you’re hosting something, be sure to let us know so we can spread the word):

Mobile Sunday Barcelona is back for the third year. Always one of my favorite events, this is an informal gathering of mobile bloggers and lots of other cool people on the Sunday night, February 10, before the show kicks off. It’s being held at the bar Belchica, just off the Gran Via and not too far from Plaza Catalunya, on Sunday (obviously), from 7-10pm.

– Our favorite mobile networking group, Swedish Beers, is holding their usual Barcelona installment on Tuesday, February 12, from 7-11pm, also at Belchica. This party was packed last year with tons of great people, so you definitely want to hit it this time around.

– The MobileMonday Peer Awards are back, and Russell and I are again on the jury. They’re Monday, February 11, from 2:30pm-7:30. See the link for more details.

– Rudy de Waele and Caroline Lewko have organized the Mobile Jam Session for developers on Tuesday, February 12. It’s described as “a day to inspire new ideas and innovate solutions to existing challenges. The purpose is focused, but the agenda is improvised along the way.” If you’re a mobile developer, you should check this event out, especially as it’s free.
