MyFC Update

myfc.jpgBack in May, Russell posted about MyFootballClub, which was aiming to get a bunch of money together from football fans to buy a side, and then let the contributing fans have a say in running the club and picking the team. After raising some money and talking to several teams, MyFC last week announced it had agreed in principle to take a controlling share in Ebbsfleet United, a club currently in the Blue Square Premier league, the fifth rung of English football.

It’s still very early days for the venture, and the deal is yet to be finalized, but things are looking good. To hark back to Russell’s original post, we’re still waiting to see how mobile is going to enter into the mix — but surely it must. The MyFC team has a big task ahead of it to keep members informed of the goings-on with the team and the Blue Square Premier league, which obviously doesn’t receive the blanket coverage of higher divisions of the game. Having well built-out mobile offerings would help this aim tremendously, and it also offers several different opportunities to generate more revenues for the club.

In any case, if you’re already a member or want to join, you can find me on the site and connect with me under the name “caaarlo”.
