This story is going to be all over the blogosphere Friday: the WSJ has just figured out that Google plans to bid on wireless spectrum in the upcoming 700 MHz auction. Good to see they’re staying on top of breaking news over there. About the only interesting bit is that the story says that Google’s going to bid alone, without any partners — which reinforces my earlier analysis that Google’s going to buy the spectrum on its own, then lease it to a network provider in exchange for access.
In any case, I can’t wait to see what sort of rumors and predictions this story spawns as it makes its way around the net. Leave your own predictions for Google’s plans in the comments — you get bonus points if they make their way into a WSJ story in the next six months.
