		<description>Hi Carlo,

Good timing for your post. As it happens, last week saw us complete our first run of compliance checking on all the .mobi domains.

Almost half of the sites tested were compliant with our mandatory guidelines. 2 of them are brain-dead simple, for sure. Those that were not compliant were generally failing to return valid XHTML (wellformedness is easy... validity still catches people out).

But we hope site owners aspire to excellence anyway ;-) And you should know we don&#039;t give any golden tickets to high profiles sites.

Our next step will be to start working, together with registrars, to ensure that the owners of those sites that are not compliant are coached to improve them. It doesn&#039;t really help the mobile revolution if we just go around turning off DNS records: we&#039;re much more interested in building up trust in mobile addresses that consumers know will work.

You&#039;re watching a process in genesis, so bear with us if it doesn&#039;t happen as you expect. The flowers.mobi issue is a particularly good point - but hopefully one famous site&#039;s non-compliance does not invalidate the little bit of mobile good we&#039;re trying to do.

(That&#039;s not to say we are not grateful for the ready.mobi hat-tip... thanks!)
