There Are Bugs, Then There Are Bugs.

Barron’s Tech Trader Daily blog recapped a Wall Street analyst’s report on Palm, which included the news that its new Fooleo, er Foleo, product will be delayed. The reason for the delay is some software bugs: “These apparently included an inability to synchronize the Foleo with most models of the Treo, in particular the nominally high-volume Treo 680.”

Yeah, I’d say an inability to sync with Palm’s own devices represents a bug, when they’re making a so-called smartphone companion. Having the ability to accompany the company’s own devices would probably be nice — especially since the core group of potential buyers for this thing is going to be people still hanging on to their years-old Treos.

I’ve largely stayed away from talking about Palm for a long time, because nothing’s happened to change my outlook of the past few years. But earlier in the week, Engadget delivered some badly needed suggestions for how the company can step up its game. I doubt they’ll pay much attention, but it still makes for some interesting reading into just how badly things are screwed up at Palm.
