Beware the MobHappy Porn!

Apparently the Wi-Fi provider at the Kansas City airport thinks we’re not safe for public consumption because MobHappy is a porn site. If only that (and the profits mobile phone fetish porn could bring!) were true…

I guess I could insert some pithy comment of this as an example of why filtering software is stupid, but I can’t stop chuckling.

I subscribe to a porn newsletter somewhere and got your newsletter instead of what I expected, which was porn. I have no idea which porn site of the many it was. Too many of them just give me something I already get.
  • Yet another example of how white-list, black-list style Internet filtering is a losing proposition. IMO, the content label approach (promoted by ICRA and for which standards are in development in W3C) is much more promising in that it allows you to choose what content to filter (in the cases where filtering is indeed necessary) based on self-declared labels.
