Lazyweb Requests

Two questions for all our lovely, intelligent readers:

Can anybody recommend a decent blogging client, either for S60 3rd edition, or a Java app? Web-based service might possibly be okay, too.

Second, what (if anything) are you all using for mobile VoIP these days? Just curious to get a feel for this and potentially check out some new services.

  • Carlo,

I use Flickr upload with automatic web forwarding, probably the easiest way around to avoid bugs whatsoever and not to get stuck between different blog software products. Easy to setup and it works in seconds.

VoIP try Gizmo on the N80, not sure on other devices. Add an automatic wi-fi scan app to your phone and your all set to use it when the wi-fi network is accessible (works well but quality depends on the network available.

    Cheers.
  • I've yet to find an actual app for s60 moblogging... A nice hack is to snap a pic and send it to a flickr address that you can configure to auto-post. Shozu also lets you do this, but I've never gotten it to work with my install of wordpress.

For VOIP, I use Gizmo on the N80, N800 and manually configured it on the E61. I've also tried Truphone, but it's nice to use the same thing across devices for simplicity -- keeping the number you both call and receive calls the same.

I should have specified for Wordpress, you're right. I've seen a hack to make Lifeblog work with Wordpress, so perhaps I should try that. Also, I'm not sure what you mean by mobile interface for Wordpress, unless there's a plugin that creates a mobile version of the admin.
  • It depends on what blogging service you're going to use and what S60v3 device you're going to use with it. If it's an N-series device, you can't beat Lifeblog. I use it on my N73 to blog directly to my Typepad account and it's really simple.

Otherwise, check out Picoblogger, it's what I use on my E62 and it's just as good, though slightly slow (due to it being java, I believe). Other than that, I've heard that Wordpress (who you use here) has a fantastic mobile interface.
