		<description>Douglass - well, I&#039;m not ignoring Google, it&#039;s just that they&#039;re not currently in the same marketplace. Their current strategy revolves around search the mobile space, which I personally think has a more limited role in mobile.

The mobile Internet will truly take off when innovators start thinking about it. Up till now they have not. Attempts to use it have been driven by the management classes and centered around porting rich applications to a device with extremely limited capabilities. Successful mobile apps need a very different kind of thinking.

And now here&#039;s the exciting thing. AdMob gives the entrepreneur belief that his/her service will be monetizable someday, even if delivered to the user for &quot;free&quot; (oh those crazy data plans). An ecosystem is developing and, as we&#039;ve seen nline, this part of it is an absolutely crucial element to have in place.

I concur with Al from Txtlocal that there are numerous benefits to SMS push and pull still and that the medium will be important in driving continue adoption of the mobile web.  For instance, here in the U.S. studies show that 44% of mobile phone users text message regularly, whereas only 19% use the mobile web at least once a month.  When the end of the year studies come out, I predict those numbers will be 50% and 22% respectively.  So, many more people text than surf wirelessly...however, texting can lead to surfing.

At OTAir, we&#039;re seeing a recent surge in momentum for mobile marketing.  Ad agencies across the U.S. are finally getting it and are reporting to us that they now have clients asking about using mobile devices to more personally reach their target audience.  We have one prospect through a partner that is interested in having a text message delivered to those that opt for it that will contain a link to a mobile web site and later to downloading a Java based app.  As with online marketing, we&#039;ll see a mix of tools, such as this example, be utilized to drive mobile web traffic and continue the rapid delivery of AdMob powered ads.
