HI,

went thru Ur comments and Views.

but it seems that U r on a larger part to critisize the things rather then appreciating something.

i am using this service since its begining and i found it a good way to go around and shop using mobilelime.

it reduced my burden to carry 12 credit cards which i own and now i just need to carry my one to two credit cards with me.

though some glitches are there in the start but i think that i am satisfied with the service they are offering and there quick response.

hope u sometime may change ur openion.

Thanks.

Russell are you aware that the mobile operator MTN in South Africa have just launched an ambitious plan together with Standard Bank to give all their several million subscribers a low-cost bank account linked to their phones.

The system allows instant transfer of money between phones, purchases, withdrawals/deposits at ATMs, etc. The same system (developed by a company called Fundamo) is already being used by operators in six other countries.

MTN intends to roll it out across all their other African networks next year (they are the second largest operator on the continent. See this story at http://www.csmonitor.com/2005/0826/p07s01-woaf.html

Russell have been tracking Mobile payments for the past two years and I have to agree that its a hard sector to crack. The failure of MobiPay to get off and running this summer shows that even the networks have a problem with it.

However the development of G-Cash shows that when a Network does get it right the benefits are great. Globe telecom have a service that means they are lowering churn, gaining international traffic and also signing up more outlets as possible top up sites.

The focus has to be on the micro payments side. It has to be cross network and envolve more than just reverse SMS as the billing mechanism. However security means that few start-ups will be trusted by network operators when it comes to opening up billing systems and hence the crux of the problem is one of security.
