Adult Content is 40% of Revenues

I wrote this morning about the growth of adult content. 160 Characters reports that around 40% of mobile content is already adult in nature.

Sites like CherrySauce are enjoying hits (I hate that metric – page impressions, OK, unique visitors, great. Hits, shite) of 1 million plus a month on their WAP site. Warning: stuff on their demo is very adult in nature – NSFW (not safe for work).

But interestingly, 12 – 15% of visitors go on to use paid-for services. This is in contrast to only 2 – 3% online. Maybe this indicates that there’s some truth in the clich» that people will pay for content on their mobiles, which they won’t on their PC’s.

    Interesting!
I had a talk with my friends who host www.sexobile.com site. It is mobile adult portal. They told me about 20% of visitors who use paid-for services. Their explanation of this fact was ease of payment. People send sms much more easier than submit credit card info.
